Richard Hughes took the Group 2 Bet365 Mile on Major Cadeaux.
Confidently ridden, the winner tracked runner-up Rob Roy into the final furlong before making a decisive move and coming home three-quarters of a length in front.
Major Cadeaux will head for the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 17.

Coral immediately cut the Richard Hannon-trained four-year-old to 20s from 33-1.
'I've thought he's top-class ever since he finished second in the Coventry,"said assistant trainer Richard Hannon jnr.

"We really ran him in this to see if he got the trip and Richard has come back and said this is his ideal distance.
"He rode him very well and he'll now go for the Lockinge."

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Rob Roy, returning from a stint in America, held off third-placed Metropolitan Man by a short head.
Winner of this race two years ago, Rob Roy will go for either the Lockinge or the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp.

The 15-8 favourite Medicine Path raced keenly and dropped out disappointingly.
