Alain de Royer-Dupre, who saddles Zarkava in today's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp, showcased more female talent in Sabana Perdida, who claimed a one-two for French stables in the Group 3 Totesport betXtra Chartwell Fillies' Stakes.

De Royer-Dupre intended to run the ex-Italian mare fitted with a tongue-tie but did not realise he had to declare the equipment. However, he used a type of bridle that did an effective enough job, and was rewarded with a length-and-three-quarter victory from the Richard Gibson-trained Verba.

"She is a good filly and was third at Ascot last year," said the winning trainer.
"She is more relaxed and more mature now. She is a filly for firm ground, and she will go to Ascot for the Windsor Forest Stakes."
